Overview
Lion's mane is the only functional mushroom known to stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) synthesis. The bioactive compounds hericenones (from the fruiting body) and erinacines (from mycelium) cross the blood-brain barrier and promote neurogenesis. Clinical trials show measurable improvement in mild cognitive impairment at doses of 500–3,000 mg daily.
